MIDLAND COUNTY, TEXAS - The Midland County Sheriff's Office continues to fall behind on collecting outstanding warrants but thanks to a new system that's about to change. Sheriff Gary Painter tells us there are thousands of outstanding warrants and that's money owed to the county, money he's about to collect. The number of warrants going unpaid is on the rise and Midland County is putting a stop to that.

"We're talking millions of dollars, this is money that could benefit Midland County and the City," said Sheriff Gary Painter, Midland County Sheriff’s Office.

That's why Midland County Commissioners have approved a new warrant research system called "Street Cred" to help law enforcement find those who owe and collect.

A process that once took the warrant department nearly an hour to complete will now be reduced to just minutes thanks to this new system.

"It will pull from all that information when you enter an individual's name and address it'll pull all that information in a matter of minutes," said Sheriff Painter.

Sheriff Gary Painter says the detailed system will help the sheriff's office catch those who are slipping through the cracks.

"My word to the people with warrants you better start covering your back pay your fines take care of your warrants because it's fixing to get really busy in Midland County," said Sheriff Painter.

Sheriff painter says the new system will be up and running by next week.
