ICA Radio, Midland Business Helps WTX Food Bank Fight Hunger 1/26/13

Midland - The holidays have come and gone and so has the all the food that was donated during the season of giving. Which means now is the time the West Texas Food Bank is really hurting for food.
ICA Radio noticed the need West Texas Food Bank had. That's why they hit the streets this afternoon and challenged our community to come and stuff a truck full of food.
It was a day of giving for ICA Radio and a midland business.
The five radio stations noticed a growing need here in west Texas.
"We understand the food bank is low right now. That's what happens this time of year,” Robert Hallmark, Director of Operations for ICA Radio said.
"As fast as the food comes in, it goes right back out. When people forget, we see a drop off right after the holidays. It starts to hurt so this is great for us," Paige Phelps, Director of Marketing for WTX Food Bank said.
Phelps says this is the time of year when they start to run very low on food.
"We need to fill our warehouse back up," she said.
That's why ICA Radio took over the Bear Claw Knife and Shear parking lot today to help fill a truck with food.
"We thought this would be a great time to help get them started for the new year," Hallmark said.
"Without us being able to help, it wouldn’t happen," Richard Steinberg, president of Bear Claw said.
They challenged the community to join them.
"This need is not going away anytime soon. We need food drives like this all year just to make ends meet," Phelps said.
Their hope is that together, we can all help end hunger in west Texas.
