January 25, 2013

New details on the murder investigation of a 3 year-old Odessa boy.
Child protective services investigated a case of abuse prior to the child’s death. That’s according to the Odessa American, which reports that the agency opened a case in March 2012.
CPS rules it was “unable to determine” abuse by Omar Frias’ parents but found “reason to believe” there was abuse by an unknown person.
The child died on January 10th at a Forth Worth hospital. Autopsy results revealed the cause of death as blunt-force trauma to his abdomen.
After his death, CPS removed his 4-month-old brother and placed him in foster care.
Odessa Police are investigating this crime as murder.
So far, no suspects have been named.
