Couple Arrested for Sex Crime, Phone Used as Evidence 1/25/13

An Odessa couple lands behind bars for a sex crime; but it’s how they got caught that is raising eyebrows.
Roxanne Losoya and Christopher George are charged with indecency with a child. According to an affidavit, Odessa Police were booking George into the Ector County Jail for a traffic violation when deputies asked to look through his cell phone, and found a video of George and Losoya having sex while a child watched.
Midland County Sheriff Gary Painter says that using technology to build a case against a criminal is becoming more common.
“It's another field of law enforcement we're expanding into so we can stay a step ahead of the criminal element.”, Sheriff Painter states.
Painter also says the rules for searching a phone is similar to those for searching in the glove box of a vehicle.
