Texas Dentist Re-arrested in Midst of Murder Trial 1/23/13

Associated Press
January 23, 2013

TYLER - A retired East Texas dentist on trial in the shooting
death of his wife has been returned to jail after he was accused of violating
the terms of his bond.

Bobby Ray Nichols, who's under a murder charge, was returned Sunday to Smith
County Jail in Tyler on his murder charge and his bond increased to $3 million.
He had been free on $750,000 bond.

Tyler police Officer Donald Martin confirms that the 76-year-old ex-dentist
is accused of violating a bond provision prohibiting him from possessing
alcohol.

Nichols is on trial on a murder charge in the June 29 killing of his
71-year-old wife, Rosalind Nichols. His defense attorney is scheduled to begin
presenting evidence on Wednesday.

If convicted, Nichols could be sentenced to up to life in prison.
