The Seminole Police Department tells CBS 7 that one person is dead after shooting himself.
Police Chief Bernie Kraft says they were called out to assist a woman who was getting items from her home.
The woman says she heard a gun shot and ran out the back of the home.
He says they tried to make contact with the man in the home and after a while they sent a team in and found him dead.
Next of kin has not been notified yet.
Kraft says his officers, the Gaines County Sheriffs Office and Texas Rangers are all working together on the investigation.

New developments on the standoff in Seminole.
According to the "Seminole Sentinel," one person has been confirmed dead.
The standoff was called off after 7:00pm.
Sources tell the newspaper that no law enforcement officers or first responders were injured during the incident.
It is unknown at this time whether or not the victim was the alleged gunman.

Law enforcement officials are on the scene of a standoff situation in seminole.
The "Seminole Sentinel" newspaper reports that a possible gunman has barricaded himself inside a home in the 600 block of S.W. 16th street.
The incident started around 5:00 pm.
Seminole Police and Gaines County law enforcement officials have set up a perimeter around the home.
