January 22, 2013 – At 10:48am, Hobbs Detention Center Staff found 48 year old inmate Rene Van Der Pol hanging in single man cell. He was found shortly after he was arraigned by a magistrate judge on charges of Distribution of Child Pornography and Possession of Child Pornography. He was arrested on the charges on January 18, 2013 and was being held on a $750,000.00 bond. His body has been sent to the Office of the Medical Investigation for autopsy. All indications appear that the incident involved suicide.
