Texan Killed in Algeria Family Man, Loved Africa 1/22/13

NEDERLAND, Texas (AP) - The family of a Texan killed in a militant raid on a remote desert natural gas facility in Algeria is remembering him as a family man who loved the outdoors and Africa.
Fifty-seven-year-old Victor Lovelady was one of three Americans killed after al-Qaida-affiliated militants attacked the complex, leading to a bloody battle with the Algerian military. Thirty-seven hostages were killed. Five remain missing.
Lovelady's daughter Erin Lovelady says her father took the job in Algeria knowing it would give him one-month blocks of time off to spend with his family. She broke down in tears recalling the five days over Christmas she spent with him. He left for Algeria on Jan. 7.
Lovelady's older brother Mike Lovelady vows to press Congress to fight global terrorism.
