3rd Maverick County Commissioner Indicted 1/18/13

Associated Press
January 18, 2013

DEL RIO, Texas - A third Maverick County commissioner has been indicted
in a South Texas corruption probe including bribery and bid-rigging allegations.

Commissioner Cesar Flores of Eagle Pass was arrested Thursday, a day after
his federal indictment on five counts of receiving bribes. The indictment says
Flores in 2010 and 2011 manipulated the bidding process so certain companies
secured county jobs and paid him kickbacks.

Flores was being held on $40,000 bond. He didn't immediately return a
message for comment.

Commissioner Eliaz Maldonado was indicted last month on wire fraud and
bribery counts. Commissioner Rodolfo "Rudy" Heredia was indicted in October on
conspiracy charges related to alleged money laundering and bulk cash smuggling.

County Judge David Saucedo says the three commissioners remain on the board
pending removal proceedings.
