Big Spring — The Texas Department of Transportation will begin repairs this week to the eastbound I-20 bridge over FM 700 in Big Spring that was damaged in October by an 18-wheeler carrying a high load.
Work will include removing and replacing part of the bridge deck, replacing the damaged beams and installing guard rail. Repairs are expected to be complete by early March.
Drivers should be prepared for occasional short-term detours and reduced lanes on I-20 and FM 700 while work progresses. Some closures on FM 700 will be necessary while beams are removed and replaced.
J.H. Strain and Sons, Inc. of Tye will complete the project for about $250,000.
