Odessa - Truancy is an issue Ector County ISD is continuing to battle this school year.
So far more than 1,000 cases of students not showing up to class have made their way through the municipal court system.
ECISD officials say the recent approval of a contract for marketing for the school district will help toward the effort of reducing truancy in Ector County.
Truancy court filings can lead to fines up to $500 or even jail time.
