UPDATE 6:55 PM

CROSBYTON, Texas (AP) - The caretaker for a 2-year-old girl reported missing a week ago has been arrested on a capital murder charge after an infant's body was found in her West Texas home.

Authorities arrested Matilda Almaraz Thursday after FBI investigators executed a search warrant at her home, Crosbyton Police chief Greg Parrot told KCBD-TV. The body of the infant believed to be Leah Marie Aguirre was found in Almaraz's basement.

An autopsy is pending. Crosbyton is about 40 miles east of Lubbock.

It was not immediately clear where Almaraz was being held or if she had an attorney.

Parrot said the investigation is ongoing and that Almaraz might not be the only suspect.

A statewide Amber Alert was issued for Leah, missing since Jan. 3, on Tuesday. The alert was cancelled Thursday.
