Big Spring - The light rain that has been pouring all day in Big Spring has made for slick roads and could mean more work for city crews tonight and tomorrow.

Everything is in working order according to the city of Big Spring on this rainy day.

"Our guys are out fixing water lines no matter what. Whether it be in rain, snow, whatever, they're always out," Johnny Womack, the Environmental Services Assistant Director said.

However Womack's crews have run into some possible road blocks.

"It's getting pretty mushy so if the rains continue, we'll probably have to limit or close access to the landfill," he said.

To others around town, the rain is welcomed.

"I'm glad we have the rain, we need moisture," driver Morgan Pisce said.

"It's pretty good, we need the water because of the drought we're in," another driver said.

However, it has made for slick roads around town.

"Don't go around the corners fast or you'll slip," Pisce said.

The wet roads and cold weather could mean more work for Womack's crews.

"We've done everything we can for the cold weather. If it freezes, there's a good chance pipes will break. We'll have crews ready to go sitting on standby," Womack said.

No matter the weather, the utilities department works around the clock to ensure every person has running water.
