UPDATE: Preliminary Reports On Two 18 Wheeler Wrecks On I-20 Released 1/9/13
Update 9:05am***
The Odessa Police Department has released a preliminary report on the two wrecks on Interstate 20.
The accident at I-20 and Grant Avenue revealed that the driver of the 18 wheeler was traveling east bound on Interstate 20 when it skidded off the roadway to median.
The vehicle hit the guardrail, skidded onto the north embankment and rolled on its side. The driver was not injured.
The second 18 wheeler was traveling eastbound on Interstate 20 when it jack-knifed on top of the bridge. It did not rollover. This caused the 18 wheeler to block both east bound lanes. The driver was not injured.
Officers and TxDOT are on the scene. Motorist are asked to slow their speed and avoid the area if at all possible.

Update 9:00am***
According to the Odessa Police Department two rollovers involving 18 wheelers has caused the east bound lane of traffic from mile marker 117 to 120 to shutdown and traffic is being diverted to the service road.
The westbound lanes at I-20 and Grant Avenue are closed as officers continue their investigation.
Motorist are advised to slow down especially 18 wheelers and be prepared to wait or take the service road.
TxDOT officials are also on the scene setting up cones.

UPDATE 7:15am ***
According to the driver of the 18-wheeler, he was driving west on I-20 around 6:30 am when his trailer started to fishtail. The truck jackknifed and then slipped off the road. The driver was not hurt. The wreck has closed the eastbound service road. The westbound service road is still open.
