Odessa – An Odessa man is facing murder charges after he admits to being involved in the disappearance and murder of a man from 2008.
According to an arrest affidavit obtained by CBS 7, 29-year-old Jesus Miguel Venegas was pulled over for a traffic violation when he voluntarily requested to speak with detectives in relation to Rene Escobar Sanchez.
Venegas then waived his Miranda rights and spoke to Odessa Police officials telling them that he killed Sanchez.
OPD is now searching for the body of Sanchez. Venegas advised them to look in the area of Interstate 20 and Moss Ave yesterday afternoon.
Detectives say they found several items in the search yesterday and will continue looking today.
The Ector County District Attorney’s office says Venegas will not be formerly charged with first degree murder until the body of Sanchez has been uncovered.
Venegas remains in the Ector County Detention Center.
