TxDOT: Update on Road Closers in the Permian Basin 1/4/13
Editor's Note: The following is a news release from TxDOT.As of this moment, Interstate 10 is closed west of Fort Stockton and doesn’t open again until mile marker 62 (basically the El Paso County line).
Also, I-20 is closed west of Monahans all the way to the merger with I-10 and on to mm 62. If this sounds confusing it is because I-20 merges with I-10 just west of Pecos.
We are moving two snow plows from the Lubbock District to work I-20 from around mile marker 15 to the split and on toward Van Horn on I-10. Six other plows from Lubbock are going to plow down Highway 17 and then work I-10 in the Balmorhea area.
Odessa District crews have been working through the night treating overpasses and major roads. That work continues. We are using district resources as well to help along both interstates.
Nearly all roads in the Odessa District are still subject to patches ice and snow.
I-20 in Odessa is closed around Grant Avenue due to an accident.
Motorists should avoid driving if they have a choice.
