City of Midland officials tell CBS 7 that they belive Perez is running south, away from the airport.
Airport officials say the airport is secure, everything is running as normal.
Midland, TX – CBS 7 has confirmed law enforcement are in a pursuit with Eric Perez a fugitive who has been on the run from Martin County deputies since last week.
The Martin County Sheriff tells CBS 7 Perez is wanted on several fraud charges out of several west Texas counties including attempted aggravated assault to a peace officer and evading arrest.
Deputies say Perez almost ran over a deputy while trying to get away last week and he has been on the run ever since.
Just after noon Tuesday, our crews on scene say Perez was driving a Dodge Challenger. He later pulled the car over and ran on foot to a field off of business 20 and FM 1788 near the MAF airport.
Multiple DPS units along with the DPS helicopter were dispatched.
