High Wind Warning in Effect Until 9pm for the Permian Basin 12/19/12

There is a high wind warning in effect for the Davis and Guadalupe mountains, Upper Trans Pecos, Southeast New Mexico, & the Permian Basin this afternoon and early evening. Also a Red Flag warning is in effect for all of West Texas until 6pm Wednesday. A storm system will move through the area this afternoon. Expect winds from the West 30-40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph possible for the Permian Basin. West winds 30-45 mph with gusts up to 65 mph for the Upper Trans Pecos & Southeast New Mexico. For the Davis mountains, winds will be Westerly 30-40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph possible, and in the Guadalupe mountains, West winds 45-70 mph with gusts up to 85 mph. We are looking at critical fire danger today.
