Big Spring - As the tragedy in Connecticut played out on television, business man Dale Pittman couldn't believe his eyes.
"I was at the house. At first I just heard there was a school shooting and the longer I watched the list just kept growing," he said.
Pittman says there are no words to describe the sorrow he felt for the 26 families that lost a loved one that day.
"It just broke my heart. I cannot begin to imagine what those parents are going through," he said.
That's why he has decided to send a piece of west Texas to Connecticut.
"it's just been pressed upon my heart for the citizens of Big Spring and all of west Texas, they all have such giving hearts, that I felt like we should get cards together," Pittman said.
He's encouraging all of west Texas to join him.
"No matter how many miles there are between Big Spring, TX and Newtown, Connecticut we can send a piece of west Texas hospitality," Pittman said.
Although he may never meet whoever receives a card, someone in Connecticut will now what it's like to receive a piece of love all the way from west Texas.
"Folks that are going through this tragedy would have something tangible that they could read and re-read in the days ahead to hopefully bring a little light to their lives in this dark hour," Pittman said.
You can drop your cards off at Storage Zone located on the corner of 23rd St. and Goliad in Big Spring. You can also drop cards off at the Festival of Lights inside the Comanche Trail Park. Pittman plans on sending the cards this Friday.
