EL PASO, Texas (AP) - The former owner of a law enforcement uniform shop in West Texas has pleaded guilty to smuggling ammo into Mexico.
The El Paso Times (http://bit.ly/TXy62v ) on Tuesday reported on the plea agreement for 48-year-old Hector Ayala of El Paso.
Ayala on Dec. 5 pleaded guilty to facilitating the smuggling of goods. He formerly also faced charges of money laundering and illegally exporting ballistic vests.
Ayala owned Uniforms of Texas in El Paso when the business was raided last December. Ayala was indicted in April.
The plea deal means Ayala must forfeit more than $100,000, nearly 9,000 rounds of ammunition and hundreds of magazines, plus give up more than 20,000 clothing items and accessories. He'll be sentenced in February.
