Odessa - Children can climb, swing and spring into fun with the new playground equipment at Mark Henderson Park in Odessa.
Old playground equipment at the park didn't keep the kids away; that was until Brayden Grant got hurt on the broken slide at the park.
Following the minor injury, the equipment was removed from the park.
Well a park with no playground was just not acceptable for the neighborhood kids.
Grant called and wanted his playground back.
That one phone call lead to today; a ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the brand new playground equipment.
It's a day these kids have been waiting for.
"Well they took away our slide and then we didn't have anything. What's a park without anything?” Grant said.
The City of Odessa ensures a safe park for every neighborhood kid.
If you'd like to play on the new equipment, the Mark Henerdson Park is located at 200 West 31st Street.
