Big Spring - Cooking for a small army is no easy task.
"You have to peel and dice potatoes, clean and dice onions," Deloris Albert, member of the Big Spring Salvation Army said.
Albert among other members of the Salvation Army have been hard at work preparing for their annual Thanksgiving feast; an event Albert has down to a science.
"I have a list for what is required each day," she said.
The food is not the problem, without the volunteers, no one is going to get fed.
"It gets pretty hectic," Albert said. "We just don't have enough members to get everything that needs to be done. If we've got any good dishwashers out there, we'd be proud to have you!"
Albert says if they get all hands on deck, they'll really have something to be thankful for.
"It's just the highlight of the year," she said.
Volunteers are needed both tomorrow and Thursday. Tomorrow, will be the day to prepare the meals, that starts at 10 am.
Thursday, servers and people to deliver meals are needed. Servers need to be at the Salvation Army at 9 am and drivers are to be there by 9:30 am.
The Big Spring Salvation Army is located at 811 W. 5th St. For more information about volunteering, call 267-8239.
