NTSB Live Tweets Train Crash Press Conference 11/16/12

The National Transportation Safety Board has just concluded its first press conference regarding yesterday’s train crash that claimed the lives of four American veterans.

They live tweeted the event. Below is a breakdown of those tweets in reverse order:

The next media briefing will be at 4:30 pm CST at the same location.

NTSB will not be determining the probable cause of the accident or providing any analysis of our findings while on scene.

The NTSB has not yet determined if the grade crossing warning system was functioning at the time of the accident.

The train had a forward-facing video recorder and event recorder. Investigators are collecting all recorders for downloading.

Experts in railroad signals, operations, recorders, vehicle factors, motor carrier ops, human performance & survival factors on scene.

NTSB's Robert Accetta is the investigator-in-charge. He is a senior investigator with more than 20 years of experience.

NTSB has sent a 16-member go-team, which includes investigators from Texas, Colorado, California, and Washington, DC, Midland, Texas.
