UPDATE: DPS Press Release - Suspects Tried to Run Over Trooper 11/15/12

Editor's Note: The following is a newsrelease from DPS.The Texas Rangers are continuing the investigation of an officer-involved shooting that took place at approximately 6:15 p.m. Wednesday in the ALCO parking lot on Main Street in Andrews.
DPS Criminal Investigations Agents were conducting a narcotics investigation involving a male and female suspect. According to the preliminary investigation, as DPS officers identified themselves and attempted to arrest the individuals, the female suspect fled the scene. When she allegedly attempted to hit officers with her vehicle, arresting officers fired The woman was wounded and crashed a short time later. She was ultimately transported to a hospital in Odessa where she remains in stable condition. She has been identified as Ashley Grado (DOB 7-31-85)of Artesia, New Mexico. She faces multiple charges and was in possession of a handgun.
A second suspect, Eric Carrasco (DOB 3-18-93) of Midland, was arrested without incident and is being held in the Andrews County Jail for unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and a felony drug charge related to methamphetamine recovered during the investigation.
The DPS officers involved in the shooting will be placed on temporary administrative leave, which is standard procedure following this type of incident.
No other information is available at this time, and the incident remains under investigation.

ANDREWS – CBS 7 has uncovered new information in last night’s shooting in Andrews. A DPS spokesperson tells CBS 7 that the armed suspects tried to run over the trooper, forcing the trooper to open fire.
The shooting happened around 6:30 Wednesday night at the ALCO store in the 1200 block of N. Main.
Witnesses say a trooper shot a woman.
