Across the nation and locally, in both Ector and Midland counties, statistics show that after president Obama's re-election, gun sales could be headed for a boom.
The number of applications for gun ownership is a leading indicator of future gun sales, and FBI reports show that last month's applications jumped 18.4 percent.
Experts believe the spike is linked to fears that a Democratic administration might try to tighten gun control laws.
CBS 7 News spoke with four local gun shops to confirm whether the national trend was also happening locally.
Three of the four report a significant rise in purchases of ammunition, handguns, and assault rifles.
