A West Texas lawmaker will be introducing a new bill this week to put a stop to distracted driving statewide.
CBS 7 has obtained exclusively a copy of the bill authored by State Representative, Tom Craddick.
The measure is calling for a ban on drivers writing, sending, or reading an electronic message while operating a vehicle, unless the vehicle is stopped.
This includes text messages and emails.
This is the second time Rep. Craddick is pushing for this type of ban.
Back in 2011, a similar bill passed through the Texas House and Senate. But it was vetoed by Governor Rick Perry.
