Press Release
Investigators continue their investigation into the homicide of an Odessa man. The deceased has been identified as John Anthony Munroy, 29 years of age. Next of kin has been notified. Munroy was found lying deceased in the southwest parking lot with an apparent gunshot wound to the head. An autopsy will be ordered by the Ector County Medical Examiner’s Office and Munroy will be transported to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office in Ft. Worth.
No suspects have been identified at this time. If anyone has any information about this incident they are urged to notify the Odessa Police Department at 432-333-3641 or Odessa Crime Stoppers at 432-333-TIPS. Investigation continues.

UPDATE: 9:53am
Odessa Police are investigating the shooting death of man found in the parking lot of an east Odessa hotel.
Police say they found a 29-year-old hispanic man dead after responding to a shots fired call.
It happened about 1:03am in the 5200 block of east University behind the Elegante Hotel.
Police have not released his name until next of kin has been notified.
The investigation is ongoing.
