Vote 2012: West Texans Sound Off 11/7/12

CBS 7 News
November 7, 2012

Odessa, TX - West Texans sounded off this morning, some in disbelief others in celebration.

"We had a few callers who voted for Obama saying they are happy and get over it," Kurt Verlie.

He says for the most part many were not happy.

Callers took to the phone lines on KCRS Newstalk 550 Morning Drive with Robert Hallmark and Kurt Verlie.

"People became more engaged on the local and national level," Hallmark said.

The two top subjects were Midland and Odessa's school bonds and the Presidential race.

Many callers showed their support for both bonds that passed.

"I wasn't surprised that they passed," Hallmark said, "but the numbers that they passed with."

"Shocker, absolutely stunned," Verlie said, "I tend to be pessimistic but I would have predicted both bonds would have lost."

Whether West Texans were for or against, blue or red, Robert and Verlie says the right to express an opinion was definitly exercised.

"You have complete freedom to express how you feel," Verlie said.
