Man Puts $8,000 Down on a Custom Building, 7 Months Later He's Still Waiting 11/2/12

Midland, TX - A Midland man orders a custom building for his backyard, 7 months and $8,000 later he's still waiting for it.

Bryan Robbins ordered the building back in April and placed a pretty hefty down payment of $8,000 for his new man cave. He says the company has been giving him the run around for nearly 7 months.

"We're going to put a BBQ area like an outdoor kitchen and fire place over in the corner. It's just a hang out place basically,” he explains.” The idea was for a 4th of July get together, the start of football season or whatever."

But a vision is all it is at this point, the 4th of July has come and gone, football season is already underway and still no building.

Robbins claims Morgan Buildings told him it would be 4-6 weeks before he got the custom building but it's been nearly 7 months instead.

"I could get a building built for probably less money and I need that $8,000 back to do that but they say that's not an option."

The company says they can't refund Robbins because frankly the money's not there. They tell us the economy hit them hard and now cash flow is short.

"It's very stressful, it's very frustrating,” Robbins claims. “It's a reputable company they've been around 50 years, that's the reason we chose them."

Robbin's says in the future he won't work with any company who asks for a down payment and hopefully he will have a man cave in by the holidays.

Morgan Buildings’ corporate office says they are trying to prioritize orders and Robbin's building must have slipped through the cracks.

They tell me that at this point they will try and return his money but it will take some time for him to get the full amount back.
