The name of the officer involved in the shooting that occurred last night in the 4000 block of Uranus Avenue is Johnny Valderaz.
Deputy Valderaz has been with the Ector County Sheriff’s Office since October 3, 2011 and serves in a patrol officer capacity.
Deputy Valderaz is currently on his regular days off at this time.
The Texas Rangers are leading this investigation, which is standard protocol when an officer is involved in a shooting.

Texas Rangers have released the name of a man who was shot to death by an Ector County Sheriffs Deputy after they say he pulled a weapon and threatened them.
According to sheriffs deputies,66-year-old Marvin Donald Wilkerson was in a yard waiving a gun and threatening residents.
Deputies arrived, they say he pulled out a weapon and a deputy returned fire.
Texas Rangers have been called in to investigate which is common procedure when an officer is involved in the shooting.
