NEW YORK - Fourteen crew members from a tall ship have been rescued by Coast Guard helicopters off the coast of North Carolina. The replica of the 18th-century ship made famous in "Mutiny on the Bounty" had tried but failed to escape the effects of Hurricane Sandy.
Two other crew members are missing. And some 50 million people in the northeastern United States are bracing for the worst of the storm.
Sandy is gaining strength as it nears a merger with two other weather systems.
