ODESSA, TX - Today West Texans were getting rid of some very important documents the right way.
Odessans came out to the Better Business Bureau’s Annual Shred Day. The BBB, The Complex Community Federal Credit Union and Goodwill came together for the event.
They say they want to educate and help consumers prevent identity theft.
“One of the most common ways it happens is people are careless with documents that have critical information in it such as drivers license, social security numbers, banking information, and people get a hold of those and steal their identity,” says Tyler Patton, BBB Regional Director.
Consumers were able to bring up to 2 boxes of documents they need to shred.
West Texans also brought out their old computers, computer parts and cell phones which Goodwill will use to recycle.
