A freeze warning is in effect from 4am to 9am CDT Saturday morning. The warning includes Eddy and Lea counties in New Mexico, as well as Borden, Scurry, Andrews, Martin, Howard, Mitchell and Davis counties in West Texas. Cities affected inlcude Hobbs, Artesia, Carlsbad, Eunice and Jal in New Mexico and Gail, Snyder, Andrews, Stanton, Big Spring, Colorado City, Alpine, Fort Davis, and Pine Springs in West Texas.
This means a killing freeze is likely during those hours, with temperatures in the 28 to 30 degree range for more than 3 hours. These sub freezing temps will kill crops and other vegetation. You should take action to prevent sensitive vegetation from being killed, and remember to provide for your pets as well.
