City of Midland: Engineering Project Road Closures and Traffic Alerts 10/25/12

The City of Midland Engineering Services Department has the following projects under construction. Road closures and traffic alerts for each project are listed below:





Ward Street Bridge Reconstruction

The Contractor working for the City of Midland began resurfacing the north alley along Jal Draw between Ward St. and Garfield St. on Monday, October 1, 2012.

The entrance to the alley at Ward St. is closed. Access to the alley will be limited to local residents only.



Hicks and Gist Sidewalk Construction

The Contractor working for the City of Midland began sidewalk construction in vicinity of Midland Freshman School on October 8, 2012. Intermittent lane closures may occur during construction.



FY 2012 Mill/Overlay Project

The Contractor working for the City of Midland will begin the Mill/Overlay project on or before November 12, 2012. The Mill/Overlay project includes the removal and replacement of approximately 2 inches of asphalt pavement. The selected roadways include: Illinois Ave. between Midland Dr. and Thomason Dr.; Midkiff Rd. between Illinois Ave. and Wall St.; and A St. between Scharbauer Dr. and Cuthbert Ave. The Contractor will begin by lowering water valve covers and manhole lids on the selected roadways. During this process, lane closures will be used to maintain traffic flow. All properties will remain accessible during this phase of the project. Drivers are encouraged to avoid the work-zones, if possible.



Cuthbert Ave. Drainage Improvements

On Monday October 29, 2012, The City of Midland's Transportation Division will begin a drainage improvement project at the 800 block of W. Cuthbert Ave. The drainage improvements will include the installation of a concrete valley gutter and necessary grading. During the project, the 800 block of W. Cuthbert Ave. will be closed. East and west bound traffic on Cuthbert Ave. will be detoured through the adjacent neighborhood. All homes and properties will remain accessible during the project.
