ODESSA- Presidential elections can provide an opportunity for students to become informed and engaged in politics.
Permian High School held a mock election today where students checked in like registered voters, circled their choice and placed their vote in the ballot box.
Students have been watching the recent debates and learning about the issues.
Cliff Hardwick, a government teacher at the high school, said it is an effort for students to excited about the election and have the urge to vote.
“Amanda Snyder from the election office came out one day—several weeks ago and signed up a whole bunch kids to register to vote,” Hardwick said. “And hopefully they’ll vote!”
This is the second time Permian conducted a mock election.
The results will be revealed later tonight.
