Andrews Receives "Fire Wise" Designation Today 10/25/12

ANDREWS, TX – Today the city of Andrews receive their “Fire Wise” award from the Texas A&M Forest Service.

Representatives from the forest service will meet with Andrews’ official to celebrate their “Fire Wise Communities USA designation.” Andrews Mayor Bob Zap will receive the award.

Andrews received the award for their commitment to taking proactive actions toward preventing wildfires in their area. This includes obtaining a wildfire risk assessment, conducting a community cleanup event and investing a minimum of $2 per capita in local “Fire Wise” actions and submitting an application to their state “ Fire Wise” liaison.

The ceremony will be at 2 p.m. today at Andrews City Hall, 111 Logsdon St.
