Tuesday Morning Weather Update 10/23/12

A dry and very warm day is expected across West Texas today. Highs will reach into the upper 80’s and lower 90’s. Officially, I’m forecasting 88 degrees today. The record stands at 90, so we won’t be far from record territory. Winds will be out of the south at 10-20mph. Skies will be partly cloudy to mostly sunny.
Another warm day is expected on Wednesday. Highs will climb well into the upper 80’s and lower 90’s. Winds will be noticeably stronger on Wednesday too. Look for a south wind 15-25mph with higher gusts.
A cold front will move into the region on Thursday afternoon. This will effectively halt the heating in the lower 80’s. Temperatures will dive into the 40’s on Thursday night. Winds will remain out of the north into Friday.
Expect a much colder day on Friday and Saturday. Skies will be cloudy and a slight chance of rain will develop in the post-frontal environment. Look for highs in the 50’s Friday and Saturday afternoon. Lows will drop into the mid 30’s. As of right now, it doesn’t appear that a killing frost is expected. However, a few locations over the northern row of counties might get close.
