ODESSA, TX - Regency Hospital Odessa has made headlines after the specialty hospital unexpectedly announced they are closing their facility on the 6th floor of Medical Center Hospital. There have been many stories as to why the long-term care hospital is closing.
Medical Center Hospital officials tell us they were still negotiating a new lease with regency hospital. They were surprised to hear that regency decided to close.
"They are looking for a long term commitment and we're looking for a short term because the changing environment so I don't think there will be an agreement we can reach," said Tony Ruiz, Medical Center Hospital, Chief Operating Officer.
Ruiz tells us MCH is exploring launching their own long-term care facility or leasing out the space to another specialty hospital.
