MIDLAND- Early voting is days away and election officials are already anticipating bigger numbers than ever before.

Midland County Administrator Ruth Sloan said she suggest voters to cast their ballot early.

“We urge voters to vote early just for the simple fact that come Election Day-- you don’t know what may happen or prevent you from going to the polling place,” Sloan said.

And many county residents have taken that precaution. The Midland County Election Office has already received 1,500 requests by mail.

Historically, early voting has been popular among Midland County voters. In 2004, 61 percent of overall voters in Midland County voted early.

In 2008, 77 percent of voters submitted their ballot early, and it is estimated 80 percent or more will vote this year’s election.

Early voting beings Monday, Oct. 20 through Friday, Oct. 31.
