Starting next year, sending a letter will cost you even more.
The U.S. Postal Service is raising postage rates starting January 27th.
A first-class stamp will cost you $0.46 and there will be a slight increase in the cost of priority mail.
If you buy Forever Stamps before then, you can save money, but soon there will be a global forever stamp which will allow you to mail first class letters anywhere in the world for $1.10.
Under the law, the post office cannot raise stamp prices more than the rate of inflation, or 2.6 percent, unless it gets special permission.
