Safe Place Sees More Acts Of Violence 10/13/12

MIDLAND, TX - The Safe Place of The Permian Basin says with an increase of people here in west Texas, they are also seeing an increase in domestic violence.

The organization says that they are no only seeing more cases, but also more dramatic and serious violent acts.

They say that many victims don’t tell of the abuse, for fear of their lives. This month is domestic violence awareness month and the group is asking for more people to step up and speak out on domestic violence.

In Midland County, the shelter’s statistics show around 600- 700 calls concerning domestic violence. In Ector County, about 12 to 16 hundred on reports of family violence throughout the year.
