On Thursday, October 11, 2012, at approximately 10:15 pm, Kendall County Sheriff’s Deputies and other emergency personnel were dispatched to the area of Ranch Road 1888 and Farm to Market road 1376 in far northeast Kendall County for a helicopter that was believed to have crashed.
The helicopter had been en route from Midland to Seguin and stopped in Fredericksburg for fuel. The Robinson R44 was believed to have left Fredericksburg at approximately 7:30pm and the emergency beacon was activated at approximately 8:00pm.
The owner of the aircraft was in Seguin when he was notified of the beacon activation, he flew another helicopter from Seguin to Fredericksburg to begin a search. He also advised that he had been unable to make contact with the pilot or any of the passengers.
The search continued through the night by Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas Parks and Wildlife, local volunteer fire department and emergency medical personnel and the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office.
A helicopter from the Texas Department of Public Safety also assisted in the search during the overnight hours until cloud cover demanded that they abandoned their efforts.
After daylight the crash site was located by another aircraft who guided ground personnel to the scene which was in a heavily wooded rural area with extremely rough terrain.
The three occupants all perished in the accident. Their names are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The Texas Department of Public Safety and the Federal Aviation Administration will be investigating the mishap.

According to the Kendall County Sheriff's Office, the helicopter lifted-off in Seguin, Texas heading for Midland. After stopping in Midland the helicopter made a stop to re-fuel in Fredericksburg and was in-route to Seguin when it went down.

KENDALL COUNTY, TX - A helicopter that left from Midland yesterday has crashed, killing three people. Authorities in Kendall County have confirmed three deaths after a Thursday night accident involving a helicopter. According to the Federal Aviation Administration a "Robinson R44" crashed at a remote site about 15 miles west of Fredericksburg near Ranch Road 1888 and East FM 1376.
The helicopter is said to have been rented from "Veracity Aviation" on Thursday night. The crash reportedly happened at around 10pm Thursday, but the wreckage was not located by Texas DPS until around 7:45 this morning. The names of those onboard have not yet been released. The FAA and the Texas Department of Public Safety are investigating.
Our CBS affiliate in San Antonio KENS 5 tells CBS 7 The Kendall County Sheriff has confirmed the flight left from Midland yesterday. Midland International Airport is in the process of verifying whether or not the helicopter lifted-off from the airport.

Authorities have confirmed that three people died in a helicopter crash in Kendall County.
The chopper was on a flight from Midland to Seguin last night when it crashed in the north part of the county near Luckenbach.
DPS says authorities followed an emergency beacon to discover the wreckage and bodies around 7:45 a.m. today.
Trooper Jason Reyes had no immediate details on the victims.
The Federal Aviation Administration says the crash involved a four-passenger Robinson R44 helicopter.
Reyes says the search began Thursday evening when an airborne pilot reported an emergency locator beacon transmitting in the area.
A DPS helicopter joined the search but poor weather conditions forced authorities to call off rescue efforts for the night.
