Severe Storms Possible Today/Tonight 10/12/12
Friday Morning Weather Update
Greg Morgan – Chief Meteorologist
Showers and thunderstorms (some severe) will develop across much of the area today and tonight. It appears that the best chance of severe weather will exist from the Permian Basin, northward into eastern New Mexico and the Texas Panhandle. Hail, highs winds and tornadoes are all possible in these areas. Expect strong winds today in addition to the thunderstorms threat. Winds will be out of the SE at 20-30mph.
Thunderstorms will continue to develop and move across the region tonight and tomorrow morning as a Pacific Cold Font approaches the region. The front will overtake the dryline and push most of the moisture east of our area by lunchtime tomorrow. However, those traveling to the east should be cautious. Storms will persist in central and east Texas through the weekend.
High temperatures today, Saturday and Sunday will be in the 80’s. Overnight lows will drop into the 60’s tonight and the 50’s on Saturday night.
The weather pattern through much of next week appears to be uneventful.
