Fatal Rollover Crash in Midland County UPDATE 8:50 PM 10/11/12

8:50 PM UPDATE
MIDLAND POLICE:
MIDLAND, TX – 10/11/2012 – On Thursday, October 11, 2012 at 6:20 p.m., the Midland Police Department and the Midland Fire Department were dispatched to a one-car roll over accident in the 6400 block of Hwy 349. Upon the arrival of EMS and MPD, Mr. Donald Gene Rowan, age 61, was found to be deceased. Mr. Rowan was driving southbound in the outside lane of the 6400 block of Hwy 349 in a 2001 Chevy Blazer. For reasons unknown, Mr. Rowan drove off the west shoulder of the highway and struck a pipe fence causing the vehicle to roll over one time. Mr. Rowan was wearing his safety belt. There was no evidence that would indicate Mr. Rowan was involved in a collision with another vehicle. This was not a high-speed accident and it is believed that alcohol was not involved. There is reason to believe that he may have had a health issue as he was driving.
Investigation for this accident is currently ongoing.
Next of kin have been notified.
