FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - Jurors in Fort Worth are deliberating in the capital murder trial of a man charged with killing a pastor in a church last year.
Steven Lawayne Nelson faces the death penalty if convicted.
Prosecutors say he killed the Rev. Clint Dobson and beat the secretary at Arlington's NorthPointe Baptist Church before stealing her car.
During closing arguments Monday, prosecutors say Nelson wanted to steal a car that day and called him a predator.
But defense attorneys said the church secretary told a doctor that two men assaulted her.
Nelson denied killing the minister while testifying last week. He said two friends went inside and committed the crime while he was outside.
But prosecutors say Nelson wouldn't have been the only one with the victims' credit cards unless he acted alone.
