Ector County, TX – Residents are in shock after a shooting in their West Odessa neighborhood places 4 victims in the hospital.
"It was about 6 o'clock. I was concerned because when they start shooting like that, they can shoot over here and end up killing somebody," says a resident.
Sheriff cars line the street of the neighborhood, northwest of 42nd and Knox on the 4400 block of Easy Street.
Both the Ector County Sheriff deputies and Odessa police were on scene trying to determine what happened before sunset around 5:50pm today.
Residents say this isn’t the first time they've heard guns fired in the area.
"It's like almost every weekend that they start shooting. They are always shooting. You here gun shots all the time. We go to a friends’ house, down the street and they're just going crazy shooting with the guns. That's scary," says a resident.
The Ector County Sheriff’s Office says they do not know if the victims were related or even knew each other. They say they are still at the first stages of the investigation.
"It could be another hour. It could be several hours, depending on what [deputies] talk with the neighbors [about]… It's just kind of like putting a piece of a big puzzle together and we’re in the very first one or two pieces of it right now," says Sgt. Gary Duesler.
Sheriff’s department says that all 4 victims are in Medical Center Hospital. Their conditions are unknown at this time.
Sheriff deputies are still on scene of the shooting trying to determine the details.
