Athletes from the Permian Basin warmed up this morning as the West Texas Special Olympics hosted a softball competition.
Teams from Fort Stockton, Monahans and Odessa didn't let the low temperatures keep them from joining the fun.
Chel Duarte, the Fort Stockton team coach says he enjoys attending the tournaments every year.
“It's just a great feeling to come up here and participate, bring the athletes let them run around a little bit, have some fun, the winning or loosing is not very important," he said.
Coach Duarte was invited to become a partner six years ago by his close friend Ray Sanchez.
