Convicted Sex Offender Attempts to Harm Himself in Jail 10/5/12

On Friday, October 05, 2012 at approximately 4:58pm, Big Spring EMS was dispatched to the Howard County Detention Center in response to an attempted suicide by hanging. Inmate Kyle Guthrie, 28 years of age had attempted to hang himself. Guthrie was transported to Scenic Mountain Medical Center was he was treated and released back into custody of the Howard County Detention Center. Due to the quick response of the Detention Staff, Guthrie’s attempt was averted.
Earlier this date Guthrie was sentenced to 6 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice after Pleading Guilty to Online Solicitation of a Minor in 118th District Court.
