SHAFTER, TEXAS – An Odessa man is dead and four other are injured after a head-on collision with an ambulance. Pecos DPS tells CBS 7 it happened just before 3pm yesterday on Highway 67 about 5 miles north of Shafter, Texas. DPS says the driver of a GMC Sierra, 35 year-old Rudolfo Sitello Guanespen of Odessa was traveling southbound on 67 when he came to a curve and swerved into oncoming traffic. DPS tells us that’s when Guanespen smashed head-on with a Presidio EMS Ambulance. The driver of the ambulance 27-year-old Isidro Curasco Pando, passengers 64-year-old Julian Franco Galindo and 51-year-old Steven Roberts are all in stable condition at Big Bend Regional Medical Center. The passenger in the GMC, 29 year-old Victor Santana is in critical condition. Guanespen was pronounced dead at the scene. DPS tells us weather conditions may have played a role in the wreck.
