Midland - Today is National Medicine Take Back Day and a Midland organization is getting help from a government agency in their efforts.
The Midland Coalition and the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) join forces in today’s Take Back. Volunteers were filling bags of prescription drugs taking them out of your hands.
DEA representatives tell us they want to assist in the ongoing effort to prevent the illegal us of them.
“Twice as many people in the country illegally abuse prescription drugs as all the people who abuse cocaine, heroin and methamphetamines combined.”
Agents also say it is a great way to safely dispose of drugs, rather than pouring them down the drain.
